Zusammenfassung:

The present paper explores, in broad terms, the epistemological axioms undergirding the account of the sense »touch« in Descartes’ Treatise on Man and The World as well as selections from the famous Introduction to Heidegger’s Being and Time. The analytic framework applied to these texts is the notion of a ‘paradigm’ in Thomas Kuhn’s essay The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. This application leads to an assessment of the fundamental assumptions underlying Kuhn’s analytic framework, with the question of whether Kuhn’s historicist methodology should be regarded as entailing a concomitant »ontology« in mind. This question is posed by means of thinking Kuhn’s Structure alongside the conceptual concerns elaborated in the work of the contemporary philosopher Markus Gabriel. Conclusions as to how formal principles inherent in all the above works can provide a conceptual mapping of the epistemic problems concerning by the divided discipline calling itself »philosophy« today confronts are then offered.
